<P>Crunchy synths and a dance beat serve as the soundtrack to <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a>'s eye-catching <a href="http://littlemonsters.com/video/502a18bae898f2d661002e6c" target="_blank">trailer</a> for her <a href="/news/articles/1687383/lady-gaga-fame-perfume.jhtml">Fame fragrance</a>, which hits stores in September.</P><P>In the Steven Klein-directed spot, Gaga wears latex — and in some cases nothing — as she commands a spaceship full of beefy guys. In the commercial, several images are intercut to weave together a sci-fi, Goth-style story where Gaga rises from the primordial ooze that is her black eau de parfum.</P><P><iframe width="420" height="280" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/qwGE-mhfigA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></P><P>When she isn't completely drenched in the oily black liquid, she's standing alongside her army, embracing with one or two of them and looking generally fierce and glamorous in one of many space-age couture looks.</P><P>As the trailer comes to a close, little men are seen climbing a nude, oversize Gaga, a setup previously <a href="/news/articles/1689786/lady-gaga-nude-perfume-ad.jhtml">teased in an ad</a> for the Mother Monster's first foray into the world of celebrity-endorsed perfumes.</P><P>In the latest issue of <a href="/news/articles/1691464/lady-gaga-september-vogue.jhtml"><i>Vogue,</i> Gaga opens up</a> about working with beauty brand Coty to perfect her perfume, making sure that while it looks black in the bottle, it sprays on completely clear. "The fragrance is called Fame. It must be black," she said in the issue for which she graces the cover in a Marc Jacobs gown. "It must be enticing. You must want to lick and touch and feel it, but the look of it must terrify you."</P><P>In addition to the trailer, Gaga previously released a <a href="/news/articles/1689920/lady-gaga-formulation-film-teases-fame-fragrance.jhtml">short film called "Formulation"</a> to get fans hyped about the release. After tweeting out a photo of her <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2012/08/03/lady-gaga-unveils-new-tattoo-pic/">new tattoo, which reads ARTPOP</a>, last week, she took to Twitter over the weekend to confirm that the ink is indeed the name of her 2013 album release.</P><P>"Make sure when writing about my new album/project ARTPOP that you CAPITALIZE the title, *its all in the details* good morning twitter!" she <a href="https://twitter.com/ladygaga/status/232114376067403776"_blank">wrote</a> on Sunday.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga Has The Title And Concept For Her Next Album" id="vid:717202" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Mother Monster originally revealed her plan to <a href="/news/articles/1686922/lady-gaga-new-album-title.jhtml">drop the album's title</a> in September back in June before apparently getting antsy and releasing the name a month ahead of schedule. It's a title she's had in mind since MTV News spoke to her last year.</P><P>"I've started writing it and I have the name for it, and all the concepts are <a href="/news/articles/1675458/lady-gaga-next-album.jhtml">beginning to flourish</a> and take place," she said in December. "I'm excited to put it out, but it's not done yet. So I'll put it out when it's done."</P><P>Gaga has been making time to record <i>ARTPOP</i> while on her <i>Born This Way</i> tour. She reportedly enlisted the help of <a href="/news/articles/1690576/lady-gaga-whitesnake-guitarist-doug-aldrich-new-album.jhtml">Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich</a> for the album. The twosome hit the studio with Gaga's longtime collaborator DJ White Shadow in Los Angeles.</P><P>She also recently teased fans with a new song, <a href="/news/articles/1690196/lady-gaga-new-music-car-new-york.jhtml">blasting it out of her car</a> while in New York City. She even implied that the dance track would be the first single from the new album. DJ White Shadow produced the track.</P><P>Gaga has also been playing her new piano-heavy song "Princess Die" while on tour. During one stop, she opened up a bit about her next album. "Let's just say I feel, I feel that when I wrote <i>Born This Way,</i> I demonstrated a sense of maturity," she said. Set to work with fellow hitmaker <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/cruz__taio/artist.jhtml">Taio Cruz</a>, the two already cooked up some magic with their <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/guetta_david/artist.jhtml">David Guetta</a> anthem <a href="/news/articles/1670301/usher-david-guetta-without-you.jhtml">"Without You,"</a> and it seems they are hoping to recapture that spirit for Usher's follow-up to 2010's <i>Raymond v. "He has very specific ideas of where he wants to go musically and sound-wise." </P><P> </P><P>Given that Usher has never shied away from exposing a bit of himself in his music, while also keeping the party going, Cruz wants to make sure they can connect the mind, body and soul for this next release. "He always wants there to be the soul in there," he explained. "I'm kind of, not the opposite, but I'm always like, 'Let's get straight to the point and be really clear with the message and be simple.' </P><P> </P><P>"So we try to match those two worlds together: being soulful and, at the same time, catchy," he added. </P><P> </P><P>Cruz can't yet discuss what they're working on: Besides "Without You," he said, "Everything else is secret." </P><P> </P><P>Usher said he was drawn to the <a href="/news/articles/1674782/usher-david-guetta-without-you.jhtml">Guetta hit</a> because he connected to it emotionally, explaining to MTV News recently what an important part that plays in his musical philosophy. "I think the world wanted a record like that. That [song] really spoke to the journey that I've actually been on in the last three years," he said. "Traveling all around the world, music sounds different. <P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> and Lindsay Lohan might <a href="/news/articles/1690648/lady-gaga-lindsay-lohan-machete-kills.jhtml">commit their friendship</a> to celluloid: According to reports, Mother Monster has asked the starlet to appear in her next music video, the lead visual from her upcoming <a href="/news/articles/1691226/lady-gaga-new-album-artpop.jhtml"><i>ARTPOP</i> album</a>.</P><P>While a rep for Lohan told MTV News her camp is "not confirming" the chatter, sources say the two stars have become fast friends and want to work together soon.</P><P>"Lady Gaga and Lindsay caused a stir last month when they had their 'sleepover' at the Chateau [Marmont]," a Hollywood insider told the <a href="http://m.nypost.com/p/pagesix/lindsay_lands_gaga_vid_gig_kxo9Fn2Cgw9KoRBR0UU9GP" target="_blank"><i>New York Post.</i></a> "And now it turns out that Lindsay will be starring in Gaga's new video from her upcoming album."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga Twitter Lightning Round!" id="vid:683377.id:1669247" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>A Gaga insider insisted to the newspaper that the singer is not shooting a video at this time and a rep for Gaga had not responded to MTV News' request for comment by press time.</P><P>Another source opened up about the rumored collaboration to <a href="http://www.eonline.com/news/336415/lady-gaga-and-lindsay-lohan-teaming-for-new-music-video" target="_blank">E! News</a>, saying there's a real, mutual friendship between the two women. The duo originally made headlines this summer after Gaga posted photos of their L.A. rendezvous to her <a href="/news/articles/1691382/lady-gaga-little-monsters-website.jhtml">Little Monsters website</a>.</P><P>"Gaga really likes Lindsay and Lindsay is really happy to be able to be part of it," the insider said. <P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> has come under fire after being photographed in various fur jackets over the past few weeks. Animal rights organization PETA is taking issue with the Mother Monster and her furry fashion choices.</P><P>In a statement released on <a href="http://www.peta.org/b/thepetafiles/archive/2012/08/13/will-turnocoat-gaga-be-peta-s-next-target.aspx" target="_blank">PETA</a>'s website, VP Dan Mathews recalls a statement she gave to Ellen DeGeneres in 2010 after she wore the infamous <a href="/news/articles/1647701/lady-gaga-talks-vma-meat-suit-with-ellen-degeneres.jhtml">meat dress to the VMAs</a> that year. Many gays are animal advocates because we recognize that the same arrogance and indifference that some have toward animal suffering has at times been directed toward us personally because of our orientation.</P><P>"PETA has long participated in Pride events around the country, and just last week, we helped lead protests against Chick-fil-A. But by wearing those dumb furs in a heat wave, you're making yourself a target just like the mindless Kim Kardashian," he said, comparing her to the reality starlet who was <a href="/news/articles/1681699/kim-kardashian-flour-bombed.jhtml">flour-bombed by a PETA</a> supporter earlier this year. Singer will film live music video for 'I Was Here' to support campaign.

<P>Last week, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a> posted a <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2012/07/26/beyonce-posts-mysterious-announcement-wipes-hard-drives-when-she-leaves-studio/">mysterious message</a> on her website that simply read, "Leave your footprint on 19 August 2012."</P><P>The cryptic note had many fans wondering just what Queen B might be up to come mid-August. Well, the answer is here, and Beyoncé not only wants her Beyhive to leave their footprint that day, but she'll also be doing the same.</P><P><iframe width="415" height="233" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/yPPBKyIceWY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></P><P>The superstar has joined forces with the United Nations and humanitarian aid organizations for World Humanitarian Day on August 19. It is "a global day to celebrate humanity and the spirit of people helping people," according to a press release.</P><P>The VMA-nominated singer will be in New York City for the big celebration, along with her "I Was Here" songwriter, Diane Warren. It will be released that same day.</P><P>Beyoncé appears in a black-and-white PSA for the campaign. A close-up of her face, sporting the <a href="/news/articles/1689944/beyonce-baby-blue-ivy.jhtml">braids she debuted a few weeks back</a>, shows her outdoors. "It's high time we rise together," she says. "Do one thing for another human being — nothing is too small. It begins with each of us. Make your mark and say 'I was here.' " Also including footage of people across the world, the message closes out with the track playing and the diva saying, "One day, one message, 1 billion taking action for each other. I'll see you then."</P><P>The <a href="http://www.whd-iwashere.org" target="_blank">World Humanitarian Day website</a> launched this week allows folks to post the "individual acts of good" they have done in their communities. By the day of the event, they hope to reach 1 billion people with a single message. Communities will do their part through commemorations and public events.</P><P>"We all see the headlines, and we think, 'What can I really do to help?' " Beyoncé said in a statement. "World Humanitarian Day is an opportunity for all of us to work together to make a difference. This is our time to leave our mark on the world and show that we were here and we care."</P>

Well, Idol fans, it's time to separate the wheat from the chaff. "There were some people who had great voices, but certain things didn't really mesh for everybody," said Mariah Carey near the end of Wednesday night's episode of American Idol (Fox, 8 p.m. ET, Wednesday and Thursday). "And they will have a chance outside of the competition." In other words, keep singing, folks -- just not here!
